BC’s First Biodiesel Manufacturer

Consolidated Biofuels was one of the first producers of biodiesel in Western Canada, boasting Vancouver’s first biodiesel refinery started in 2009. The refinery continues today to produce the highest quality and environmentally friendly Biodiesel fluid, marine & automotive grade Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and biodiesel byproducts like Methyl Esther, Glycerin and Fatty Acids for use in a variety of consumer products and industrial uses.

Consolidated Biofuels (2008) was founded by Dan Treleaven, an industry veteran, and joined his first business, Consolidated Coatings (1981) as a member of the Consolidated Group of Companies. Consolidated Coatings manufactures consumer and commercial paints and coatings for a variety of home uses and industries.

History of Sustainable Innovation

In its first few years, Dan pioneered the conversion of used cooking oil into the exacting specifications to be used as a fuel in any Diesel engine. As always, the goal of Consolidated Biofuels is to manufacture Biodiesel and related products to exceed the relevant specifications and provide the most beneficial impact for environmental purposes. As an example, Consolidated Biofuels uses second generation feedstock like used restaurant grease and beef tallow from renderings as the first choice for starting materials, since they are further down the food chain and while not suitable for human consumption, are perfect for manufacturing Biodiesel fuels.
