Consolidated Biofuels was proud to participate in this year's GreenShip Conference in Vancouver, where industry leaders gathered to discuss the future of marine decarbonization. Graeme Pitches, Vice President of Consolidated Biofuels, joined the Economics of Alternative Fuels panel alongside representatives from Advanced Biofuels Canada, FortisBC, and Natural Resources Canada to explore the opportunities and challenges facing vessel operators as they navigate the energy transition.
One of the key themes emerging from the discussion was that there is no single solution to reducing emissions in the marine sector. Biodiesel, LNG, hydrogen, and other alternative fuels each have a role to play depending on fleet requirements, infrastructure availability, and operational readiness. Events like GreenShip provide an important forum for industry, regulators, and technology providers to share knowledge, challenge assumptions, and advance practical solutions that can deliver emissions reductions today while supporting the long-term transition to lower-carbon shipping.
